Finally—an easy and FUN way
to break through writer’s block!
Guaranteed!
For years, I thought I just didn’t have the discipline to write.
Then I discovered the secret to INSPIRATION!
From: Gail Westerfield

Dear Struggling Writer:

Everyone knows that successful writers write EVERY DAY.

But what if you can’t think of anything to write about?

Then you put off writing for another time, when inspiration might strike. You know you SHOULD write – even for a few minutes each day – but you’ve never developed the habit. It’s sort of like exercising: if you don’t do it enough to learn how great it feels, you avoid it. Your “creative muscles” get weak, so if you only do it once in awhile, you get all the soreness and none of the benefit.

Believe me, I’ve been there. Over and over again, I’d resolve to be more disciplined, so I would sit down with my laptop, ready to set the world on fire with my words and…nothing. No ideas. No inspiration. I’d just stare at the screen, berating myself for even thinking I was a “real” writer. These sessions usually culminated in a sudden urge to scrub my sinks or do ANYTHING else but write.

I write for a living, and I’ve taught writing for years, so I could usually come up with something when I was given (or giving) an assignment. So, I rationalized, inspiration for my own projects would just come pouring out of me…eventually…any day now… right?

Wrong. Left to my own devices, I remained totally uncreative and blocked. For a long time, I gave up writing for myself altogether. That felt pretty terrible, too, so I spent a lot of money buying other writers’ books and writing exercises, hoping that would help. But none of them seemed to “fit” and nothing consistently released my creativity.

And because I was frustrated, I had no interest in forcing myself to write something – anything – regularly. So the books gathered dust on my shelf. My ‘creative muscles” felt weaker and weaker every day.

“This is exactly what I needed to get me going on a novel I’d had sitting in my drawer for YEARS! Even though every single prompt didn’t apply directly to the project, they all got me to WRITE, which is the only way to get through a block! Thank you so much, Every Day Epiphanies!”
– Claire M., Boulder, CO
In a last ditch effort, I signed up for a creative non-fiction writing class. Between you and me, my attitude going in was not too good. But near the end of the first class, the instructor handed us pictures cut from a magazine and gave us fifteen minutes to write a story. Staring at that picture, I guess I had some kind of breakthrough; I wrote like crazy! And when I read it over at the end of the exercise, it was actually pretty good!
I broke through my writer’s block!
When I was driving home, I had ANOTHER epiphany: If a random visual prompt worked so well for me once, maybe it would again. What if I collected them, picked one out every day, and just wrote for fifteen minutes, as we had in class?

And it worked! Believe me, with a few pages of actual real-live writing in a folder, it was a lot easier to get serious about the “do it every day” part. Writing something felt very rewarding, and though none of it was going to win me fame and fortune – YET – it was a start. I put most of it away and didn’t let myself look at it, lest my Inner Critic tell me it was truly terrible.
“I used the prompts as daily journal exercises, just writing about whatever came into my head. I didn’t let myself revise or even really look at what I’d written until Sundays. Then I would go back and decide which ones I wanted to work on at greater length. I’ve never, ever had so much material to work with before.”
– Jack H., Fort Wayne, IN
Pictures were great, but I found myself craving more, and I started writing down snatches of overheard conversation and turning to music and sounds for inspiration, too. I found that I’d wake up sometimes with ideas for first lines of stories and odd little ideas for plots or dialogue.
Every Day Epiphanies works
for everyone who tries it…
…and it will work for you, too!
Now I use my creativity prompts, which I started calling Every Day Epiphanies, for short stories – my favorite form – but also when I’m working on something for a client. I go to them when I want an idea for a story to pitch to print media. I’m pulling out all the stories I started in grad school but never got around finishing – without a professor and a due date! – and now I’m getting them done! I’ve also started working on my memoir, which is something I’ve wanted to write for years.
“The prompts are so much fun! Now writing doesn’t seem like this awful chore I have to do but a fun kind of game that I really look forward to.”
- Brandon H., Chicago, IL
When I told my writer-friends about my regained creativity, they wanted in on the action, too. I’m talking about all kinds of writers: poets, songwriters, bloggers, journalists, a novelist - even some people who hadn’t ever written before but wanted to tell the stories inside them. They just didn’t know where to begin, and Every Day Epiphanies helped get them going.

Every Day Epiphanies worked for everyone! Like me, some of them had found that other prompts or exercises didn’t “fit,” but Every Day Epiphanies let you use your own unique and creative perspective to write what you want to write.

That means there’s good news for you, too. I’ve compiled thousands of prompts, pictures, and sounds that you can use to overcome your creative blocks and develop better writing habits. Every Day Epiphanies is a daily e-mail that includes a text, photo, or audio prompt. The prompts are different every day.

It’s like your own personal trainer or an ever-present muse – a daily dose of creative inspiration, helpful hints, and ideas – to help you express your brilliant and unique self!
“I was pretty dubious at first about this, to be honest. I have had prompt books and other get-started-writing tools gathering dust on my shelves forever. But getting an Epiphany every single day of the year, I just couldn’t help but actually write, not just THINK about writing!”
– Leigh G., Charlotte, NC
Now, if you’re thinking…

  • "I can’t afford it." Almost everyone’s feeling the economic crunch, and we can’t promise that you will make millions with the writing you do thanks to Every Day Epiphanies. But isn’t it worth investing just over a quarter a day to find out? Besides, creativity is a GREAT stress-reliever.

  • "It won’t be worth the money." If you were to go back to school for an MFA to jumpstart your writing, it would cost you thousands and thousands of dollars. A lifetime subscription to Every Day Epiphanies would be a fraction of that.

  • "My Writer’s Block is so HUGE that nothing will help me." Writer’s Block: Ugh. Every Day Epiphanies offers you an opportunity EVERY DAY to wake up from your worst nightmare. If one day’s prompt doesn’t do it for you, there’s another one coming up that just might do the trick.

  • "I’m not a good enough writer so this won’t help me." Every word you put to paper makes you a better writer. Athletes don’t say, “I’m not going to invest in the tools that will improve my skills because I may not ever be in the Olympics,” do they? Writing every day WILL help you be the writer you’ve always wanted to be.

  • "I won’t be able to tailor the prompts to my genre or project or interest." On some days, you may not feel like the prompt trips your personal light switch. Although not all the Every Day Epiphanies will turn into A Great Idea you can use the moment you receive it, the prompts are what you make of them. If you don’t feel inspired, you can write a few lines and get on with your day. Writing SOMETHING—even a few lines—is what’s important.
Here’s what you get when you subscribe to Every Day Epiphanies:
